I have played vimms lair games off and on for the last 6 years or so, and have never had any problems. 

If I were you id download avira free edition for free anti virus
make sure you only have 1 anti virus and 1` firewall running,

next id download free malware bytes then super anti spyware free, update and run them all full scan and make sure your windows is up to date.

I remember that.. however I also remember never receiving a virus from said popup. It was just a persistent one.

Ahem, memory may be a little fuzzy. Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong popup? :p But I don't think so.
