The Game Genie ROM will not do anything but the emulator NESTOPIA should have a built in cheating interface. Find some game-genie codes/action replay codes, load NESTOPIA, on the top bar click Options, Cheats..., Add code, and fill out the information and select the ROM the codes go with.
