Try extracting the SMC file and running that.  If you try running the file straight from the ZIP without extracting, I'd always expect problems.

So I've downloaded the Snes9x emulator and also Super Mario RPG.....however, I cannot save the game whatsoever. If I open the zip file, it says something about a 'freezing file' that is read-only and I need to change it, or I won't be able to save. Now, when I load the .smc file of Mario, the box saying my game won't save doesn't show up, BUT, for some reason, as soon as I load the .smc file, an error box pops up and says 'Snes9x has stopped working and Windows is checking for a solution.' HELP. I love playing all these old video games.....but it's rather disappointing when I can't save. I'm using Windows 7 as an OS, btw. Thanks for any help. :)
