Try a different emulator. -nt-

I have to say I love this game and have played and beat it in the past. However, this time around, the game freezes after I achieve the star piece from the sunken ship after defeating Johnny. The game stops working at the screen where the star is placed in position with the other star pieces. Does anyone else have this problem? How can I unfreeze and continue my game? Thanks.
