There was a game with a sky castle, but it was an RPG and there was no jumping. Dragon Warrior 4.

Well, I'm not so sure it's a Ninja Gaiden game now; just played two of them. You game could be "Vice", but I need to look the games over a little bit more to be sure. Sorry about that, but I haven't "Ninendo"-ed in a while. :-(

In any case, "Vice" doesn't get to any platform scenario until the second stage; you're driving a destructive car before then, ala "Spy Hunter" fashion.
