I personally use BGB for Gameboy Color and Gameboy Pocket games.  Even though it hasn't been updated for a while, it's been my personal favorite for several years now.  Here's one site you can find it, if I'm not mistaken:

Hello emulation gods! As a long time user of Nestopia and SNES9x, I thought I'd try the gameboy emulator to get my metroid fix. THis emulator runs SUPER fast on my machine (brand new, windows 7, 3.01 GHz processor, 4GB RAM). I've tried playing with the speed, dropping throttle as low as it will go (5%) and trying to adjust frame rate, nothing seems to help.

Any suggestions?
