Emulator improvement

That's what I was thinking also. I have to say SNES is pretty slick, particularly snes9x and I am hoping the psxe goes the same way. I haven't played a game that needs a disc change yet, but I keep hearing complaints about that. Also, I've had some choppiness with FFT, FF9 and Castlevania:SotN. Nothing that would make me stop playing :-)

FF:Origins and RPG Maker seem to run perfectly for me, so it is not all bad by any stretch.

Yes, I'd definitely blame the emulator for that; PS1 emulation is still new in the game. Even SNES emulation isn't perfect yet, partly due to copy protection schemes on some games.
