Without modding, you can get the PS-X-Change disc, works great on a PS1. It has you swap discs after loading, and then loads your custom or backup disc. As far as the emulator goes, I think the one we used was PNESx. It worked, not anywhere near as well as the newer emulators, but it did the jobs for most of the basic NES games. Give that a try.
Does anyone know of a way you could take these downloads and mount them to a disc to actually play it on the original console? Emulators are nice but i want to see if i can make use of the old ps1 i have, and a handheld controller is better for these games imo
