Hmm. Are you running the games from ISOs? I had this problem with Parasite Eve as well. Personally, I got around it by using an actual disc and not the ISO image files. How it worked for me:
1) start ePSXe
2) load disc 1 from an actual CD (gotta start the game with disc not ISO file!)
3) get to the part where it asks to switch in disc 2
4) swap in disc 2 from an actual CD
So if you have some extra CDRs laying about and can burn it to disc, you might want to give this method a shot.
I'm still having problems with switching discs. I downloaded that Mooby's CDR plugin-in, but I'm still having issues. This is the issue. I'm at the end of disc 1 on Chrono Cross. I enter the dead sea, go into the fate distortion, view it's little short scene, and then I get "Please Insert Disc 2". I go to change disc, switch to disc 2, and all i get is black screen. I can't get any further then that. I'm using ePSXe 1.7.0
