The following is a *good* remake of a bad game - The "Action 52 Own" version of "City Of Doom" for the NES. This remake runs on Windows-based PCs (and probably on WINE for Ubuntu, though I haven't tried it), and it resembles the style of games for the Nintendo Game Boy. The game is kind of short, but undeniably entertaining. :-)
