Game Description:
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a platforming action video game. Developed by Sonic Team and Sega Technical Institute in 1992, it introduces new mechanics to the series, and the lovable young fox known as Miles "Tails" Prower. The massively successful sequel to the original Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 2 stands as the second best-selling Sonic game in history, and is considered by many fans as the best Sonic game.
A 2-D side-scrolling platformer, you control Sonic, a blue-colored hedgehog that runs pretty darn fast across the stages (zones as they are called in the game). Alternatively, the player can also play as Tails, who either functions identical to Sonic. Scattered throughout the zones are golden rings that Sonic can collect, which allows him to not only take damage, but allow access to special stages. The special stage, which is now a pseudo-3D tube, involves collecting a certain amount of rings and avoiding bombs.
Returning from his previous defeat, Dr. Ivo Robotnik plans world domination once again by kidnapping and converting animals into robots, and collecting the seven Chaos Emeralds. Unlike his previous frenzy with Sonic, Robotnik has built the Death Egg, a giant battle station orbiting the Earth, and intends to conquer with it. Sonic (now followed by Miles "Tails" Prower) set off to collect the Chaos Emeralds and defeat Robonik once and for all.

Hack Description:
As with Luv Da Flo for Sonic 1, the main goal of this hack is to improve the flow in the original Sonic 2 for MD/GEN. Secondary goals are to reduce cheap hits and leaps of faith, make the difficulty more consistent, and to make zones more interconnected.
Apply the patch to the rom specified below or to the github Sonic 2 disassembly rom. Unfortunately it's not compatible with the recent bug fixes patch, at least not yet.
See the readme for more info.
Most changes:
-Tweaked ring, obstacle, hazard, monitor and enemy positions in all zones
-Changed the path triggers in EHZ2 so that you can always enter the wall paths
-Added solid wall behind the red spring taking you to "1-up island" in EHZ2 and tweaked the level design so that if you let go of the buttons after jumping into the red spring you don't fly into enemies and you get both the 1-up and the shield on the island
-Second chance platform added in the waterfall pit after the wall path leading to a shield in EHZ2
-Added hidden shortcuts to the bottom left paths in CPZ2 since the pipe around the middle after the 1-up jump can take you to either
-Better visual clue to the northern boss fight shortcut in CPZ2
-Added a couple of second chance platforms in CPZ
-Fixed the cheap hit from flies when bouncing out of the water at the end of ARZ2
-Changed the rounded wall at the end of the underwater path in ARZ1 so you can't end up moving backwards there
-Fixed a rare glitch that got you stuck between two triangular bumpers at the last table in CNZ2
-Added a star post to CNZ2
-Moved the rings placed after the last checkpoint in HTZ1
-Fixed the first spiker enemy and the rexon enemy outside the cave in HTZ1 by moving them a bit
-Added a couple of fire ball enemies to HTZ2 to make elevator rides more exciting
-Added a hidden pair of speed shoes to OOZ1
-Moved some rings down to after the last checkpoint in MCZ2
-Fixed a minor hit detection issue in one of the pits in MCZ
-Fixed the dead ends in MZ1
-Made the floor spike traps in MZ more visible
-Tweaked most asteron/star fish in MZ that didn't trigger before
-Fixed the major shortcut through the propellers in WFZ
