Game Description:
Castlevania is an action platformer for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Known in Japan as Akumajou Dracula ("Demon Castle Dracula"), this game is about a clan of vampire hunters known as the Belmonts hunting down and killing Dracula himself.

You play as Simon Belmont, and fight your way through Dracula's castle (known in English as "Castlevania", a portmanteau of Castle and Transylvania, har har). You have many weapons at your disposal. Your main weapon, the Vampire Killer whip has somehow been passed down through the Belmont clan for generations. You can get power ups for that (essentially changing it from a leather whip, to a short chain, and longer chain whip). You also have many sub-weapons, which require hearts to use. These include a knife, throwing axe, holy water, cross boomerang and stopwatch (which freezes all enemies on screen). You can only throw one of these in a certain period of time, unless you get the "II" and "III" powerups.
Hack Description:
This hack for Castlevania modernizes the control scheme to make it more
like Symphony of the Night and Mega Man, allowing the player more
control while in the air.

Complete list of changes:

- Enables the player to control their x-velocity in mid-air while jumping (including while jump-attacking).
- (optional) When releasing the jump button, one immediately starts falling again; this allows the player to make smaller hops if desired.
- After being knocked back, the player regains control after a split second and can angle their fall.
- When walking off an edge, the player retains control instead of dropping straight down.
- The player can jump off of stairs at any point in the climb.
- (optional) The player can land on stairs.
- (Optional) A bit of inertia while moving in the air.

Version 1.1 changes:
- Now compatible with Ultimate Castlevania and The Holy Relics. Please ensure that you use the correct patch from the zip (other-hacks and the-holy-relics respectively) if you combine this hack with other hacks.

Version 3.0 changes:
- Now compatible with many other romhacks as well (see the folder for compatibility with other hacks)
- Stair landing
- Optional inertia for "weightier" jumps.
- Individual changes can be selected.

Version 3.1 changes:
- Changed folder layout of zip file to be less confusing. Previously, many would-be-players were incorrectly applying the patch for the vanilla version of the game onto hacked versions of the game.
