Newtopia features new layouts for every crypt. The player starts with the falcon shoes and the fire wand. Shortcuts to each crypt are found near the entrance to each sphere. Shields are obtained earlier to be more useful, and armor is obtained later to make the game more challenging. Saving regularly is highly recommended. Bosses may appear in any room, and different floor tiles add an unexpected challenge to familiar boss fights. A portion of the last sphere has been repurposed as a final gauntlet before facing Dirth.
