Alien Soldier is an arcade-style 2D run & gun game developed by Treasure Co., Ltd. and published by SEGA. It was released on cartridge for the MegaDrive in both Japan and Europe, but the US release was exclusive to the SEGA Channel online service addon for the Genesis.

In game, you take control of Epsilon Eagle, the former leader of a terrorist group named Scarlet which prevents the Earthen populous' ability to traverse space with an iron fist.

Each member of Scarlet aren't really alien, but rather humanoid/creature fusions, the result of an artificial parasite.

A failed assassination attempt leaves Epsilon mortally wounded and cast through time and space, where his conscious and energy would end up in a boy in a secret lab full of kidnapped children.

Through the eyes of that boy, Xi-Tiger, who in the confusion following the failed assassination on Epsilon gained the powers of the strange mutagen, hold captive and ultimately kill a girl to tempt Epsilon out of hiding.

As Xi-Tiger fled, the boy which Epsilon possessed morphed into Epsilon himself out of pure rage. Now fueled by the conscious and human sense of justice inherited from the boy, Epsilon sets out to right his wrongs by killing Xi-Tiger and destroying the organization he once lead.

This patch modifies the European version of Alien Soldier to run at 60 Hz, with music at the correct tempo, and of course, region lock-out removed. For English speakers, this arguably makes the European version the definitive edition of the game.

There are two versions of the patch provided. One for the normal ROM, and one for a ROM that already has the Ammo Regen patch applied to it.
