Re: questions

This isn't a "pirate site" at all....none of these games can be purchased legally anymore. Buying 2nd hand copies at the current exorbitant prices is only profiting resellers. That being said, an argument could be made for some of the retro stuff on the eshops (like Switch Online etc) that are still available for purchase.

1) Copyrights, as far as I know, don't exactly last 100 years.
2) To be a non-pirate site, it is not necessary to have works that are in the public domain (After all, you don't call the Internet Archive a pirate site just because it contains copyrighted content.). And if we talk about Vimm's Lair, it is not a pirate site because it exists to save video games, most of which are now impossible to buy legally anywhere.
Moreover, if Vimm's Lair really was a pirate site, it would have already been providing ROMs from current systems like PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch. (In the FAQ section, it is clearly stated that Vimm's Lair will not provide ROMs for games from systems that are still in production, and to be included on the site, the system must be at least two generations older.)
