GameCube disc format
Posted by Vimm on .
Games in the GameCube Vault currently use the NKit ISO format (.nkit.iso). It's the smallest format available and runs great on Wii consoles. Recent releases of Dolphin however are scaring people away from NKit ISOs and while they make some valid points, it's a lousy user experience (especially for newcomers).
With that in mind I'm considering switching the GameCube Vault back to scrubbed ISOs. Scrubbed ISOs work exactly like ISOs on both console and Dolphin but can be zipped much smaller, almost as small as an NKit ISO. They can also be restored to a Redump ISO with NKit. To distinguish them I'm considering the extension ".scrub.iso". Scrubbed ISOs seem to check all the boxes.
1. Small download size.
2. Plays perfectly on console (same as ISOs).
3. Plays perfectly on Dolphin.
Anyone have any thoughts?
