Nah man, Valkyria Chronicles is a whole different beast. I've played VC a lot, I'd know. The game I'm talkin about is pixel art with VN style portraits. I guess it was kinda like Fire Emblem. But it's definitely NOT Fire Emblem.

I think you're talking about the strategy war game Valkyria Chronicles. Probably one of the first ones. Hopefully it is what you're looking for ;-)
