Legend of Mana - PS

I can't get Legend of Mana to play properly in pcsx or pcsx reloaded. It starts up fine, I put in my character name, select my weapon, place my home, then when the cut scene starts if I hit any buttons it freezes up. Even if I let the whole cut scene play though without touching a thing, the screen fades to black at the end and gets stuck there. Anyone else have this problem or know of a solution? I even tried downloading an eboot of it and converting it to ISO but the same problem occurs with that copy as well.
