Whenever I needed to run questionable files through an unprotected computer, I simply had the files checked through an online virus-scanning website first. It helps a great deal when you usually do everything through a Linux-based OS.
Not sure what the best online scanner is these days, but here's one:

USB 3.0 should be backward compatible with 2.0, but it's always worth checking. The one I'm looking at does say that it works with 2.0. Now I just have to work up the nerve to make a transaction on an unsupported OS with no antivirus software installed.
