OK, I'll upload PNGS. But first: I'm sorry to beat a dead horse, but I still see an entry on the manual page that says "Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland". I accidentally miscategorized my submission as SNES instead of PS2, maybe that's why?

Right, that's exactly the way I've always thought. That's why I originally picked 95 dpi for all my NES scans since that comes out to 998 x 380 pixels which fits perfectly on a 1024 x 768 resolution. Since 800 x 600 was the norm at the time I figured 1024 x 768 was only going to become more common so I went with that. Now I scan all my manuals at 300 dpi and upload them to the server as a png. Whenever you view one of my scans it's shrunk down to 95 dpi by the server, and I've set all other scans to shrink to 100 dpi. In order to shrink it properlyI need to know what it's original resolution is, thus the resolution field on the upload form.

After a while I learned that people didn't always want to just view the manuals on their screen, they wanted to print them out. 95 dpi doesn't really cut it when you're printing, 300 dpi is much better for most people. Soon people will be able to choose their image resolution when they view a manual online or download it in vlm or pdf format. So, people who want the small files/images can download them at a low resolution and people who want larger can download them at a higher resoltuion. It looks much better to shrink an image than to enlarge it, so the higher the resolution you upload at the more options you give your viewers. Also, you lose image quality each time you alter a jpg image which is why png is preferred. Don't worry about disk space, I'll always have more than enough.

I plan to be able to let people choose their resolution this weekend, though I'm quite busy this weekend so I may not get the chance to finish.
