Re: Congrats on 20 years!

I haven't always had great internet. My first server served up SNES games over a 768K SDSL line. DSL speeds are limited by your physical distance to the phone center, so I looked up nearby relatives and found my grandparents qualified for the fastest speed (1.5M/T1) for only $500 a month, half the cost of an actual T1 line. So, I offered my grandparent free internet in exchange for keeping a server in their house. It may sound expensive, but advertising was so lucrative that I considered adding a third line. But then the dot-com bubble burst, and sadly I was forced to scale back. It sure was fun while it lasted.

I remember being stuck on Dial-up even as the 1990s came to a close. Even today I can't even maintain a server under the current circumstances. It seems Vimm is always going to be several steps ahead of me. :-)
