This game has definitely aged well, and was a great opening to the Pokemon franchise for me!

Graphics: 7
Like any game for this system, Pokemon Red is made in 4 shades of green, and is very obviously based on 8x8 tiles! With that said, I really like the way this game looks and feels! Remastered versions such as FireRed on the GBA feel like their graphics don't really suit the gameplay to me? That is why I chose the original Red to begin my experience with Pokemon, and I do really like the graphics!

Sound: 8
The soundtrack is freaking iconic!! I really like quite a few of the songs to this game, to the point of playing them later on through YouTube.

Gameplay: 9
By far my favorite part of Pokemon Red! The feeling of beating the Elite Four with the starter Pokemon I had trained to an extremely high level, knowing it had been with me the entire game, was awesome!

The game is definitely one of the best Gameboy games I've ever played, it's very technically impressive and I think it has aged wonderfully minus a few things (Those hard to navigate caves where weak Pokemon would constantly challenge me wasn't even hard.. just extremely annoying!)

If you're looking for like, the best Gameboy RPG ever, this is it in my opinion. It fascinates me how this was even pulled off as a homebrew Gameboy developer myself.
