Saints Row, a supposed GTA clone which is not actually a GTA clone because it is still able to differentiate itself from its counterparts. Despite the dated graphics and a lacking gameplay system, it is still worthwhile going back and replaying a comical, sort-of grounded third person shooter. Pretty cool for an XBOX exclusive.

As you would expect from a game that came out in 2006, it's not the most visually pleasing, however it still holds up to its standard. The color grading, character models, and building textures are still able to convey the vibrant, yet chaotic environment of Stillwater. Obviously the facial expressions look like something out of a PS2 game but even then you can get the gist of character emotion. There are few texture shading issues here and there, of course it won't hinder the experience in the slightest.

Sound: 9
Now this... this is what Saints Row excels at. When people say Saints Row is comical and does not take itself TOO seriously, this is mainly why. Even though you rarely get into fist fights, the punching and stabbing sounds are... funky (for a lack of a better term lol)? You can feel the impact of every hit in a hilarious way. Let's not forget the gun shots and of course... EXPLOSSIONNNNNSSSSS!!!! The RPGs are probably the greatest go-to-weapon just for the sheer mass sound. And let's not forget the shotguns and SMGS. Voices are solid, somewhat cheesy and gangsta, which really works when you get to some of the most iconic scenes in the game.

Gameplay: 6
Now this... this is what Saints Row does not excel at. This game basically tells you to go in johnny gat style. No aiming down (except snipers), just straight blasting. Some problems could be solved by just aiming down. The driving mechanics are subpar, mainly because of the camera angles making it hard to turn the vehicles. Other than that, going in guns blazing can be rather helpful when facing a swarm of gang members.

Overall: 8
If you want to witness a gang rise to power? Saints Row has it. If you want iconic moments? Saints Row has it. If you are fine with a story, not as complex as Red dead but not as simple as Mario, this is for you. You wanna commit insurance fraud? This is DEFINITELY FOR YOU. It is a fun experience for those that wanna relive the old XBOX 360 era.
