This game captivated me really deeply when I first booted it up, so I felt the need to write a review for it.
Graphics: 10 Having the Wii interface graphics as the game's entire art style is nothing short of a treat on the eyes. When I'm feeling down, I like to boot this game up and just enjoy ogling at how well done they are. Really, Nintendo has outdone themselves in this department! Sound: 9 There's not a lot of sound that plays in this game since it's rather abstract, but the ambient hums and soft blips are always pleasing to the ears. I wish more games (and consoles in general) had this much effort in a gentle sound design for their menus. Gameplay: 7 This part is where the game falls off a bit. The game is rather short, and sometimes wipes all of the data from your Wii, but I still enjoy it for its serenity. Imagine this- you are taking a walk through the wilderness, quiet and cold, and are running on your last legs from exhaustion... Upon which, you find an alcove, an opening from the darkness of the forest! Its river runs cold but does so with an unmatched serenity, as you look around and see not a soul underneath the moonlight. It's a situation which invites one to relax, lay down their arms, find some peace in the moment, in a world captivated by dark forests and foul beasts. This doesn't have anything to do with the game, but it's pretty nice. Overall: 9 This game is really a diamond in the rough, but I don't see a lot of games that bothered learning from it nowadays. It's a shame that it's overshadowed by other launch titles like Twilight Princess. Maybe one day a good developer will pick up this game and learn from it... I'll be playing this game after I finish typing this review, which is right now. Thanks for tuning in! |
