This game was like my childhood. I'm not even joking, it it was the first ever video game I've ever played. Actually this was the first ever game I ever played was Wii Sports at a friend's, but this was the first game I ever owned myself. And I'm glad that it was a puzzle game. Despite being an over saturated genre, them match-3 bejewel clones make you smarter.

The backgrounds during the puzzles are animated and contain a surprising amount of detail. My only complaint about them is that they can prove to be a distraction from the puzzle. The blocks in the puzzle are very very modern and very simple. Each level changes up the look of the block, so you don't have to worry about stating at the same old block throughout the entire game. The menus are very simple and the font carries over the modern feeling the blocks had. The game overall has a very nice presentation.

Nothing really spectacular to say here. There definitely weren't any 'hit jams' or 'instant bangers' that made me want to download the game's OST, but I'd say that's a good thing as appose to a bad thing. The music doesn't draw any special attention to it, making it easier to focus on the puzzle presented to you on screen. If the music was really awesome, I'd just sit there and just tap my foot to it and the timer would run out. If it was bad, then that's just bad. Nobody likes bad music. Average is where this game wants to be.

Gameplay: 10
The game is simple. Use your stylus to swap the position of two blocks. If you get 3 or more blocks lined up in a row or column, they disappear and your score goes up. Matching more blocks at once and making matches multiple times in a row for more points and combos. Clear the board before it reaches the top of the screen, or it's game over. The game really doesn't get anymore complex then that. And honestly, that's great! The simple game play design allows for a wide ranges of board set ups without complicating things. The game also offers tutorials where it teaches you different techniques, such as how you can swap a block and empty space allowing you to move a single block across the board or drop blocks down into a hole. The game requires a good brain to beat, and the satisfaction of beating it a tough level is unmeasurable.

Overall: 10
Overall the game gets a 10 out of 10 from me. It does it's job, and it does it's job well. It's a puzzle game, that's all there is to it. The only question left, do you have what it takes to join the league?

Call it nostalgic bias (because honestly, that's what is) but I think Planet Puzzle League is a great brain teaser and perfect time killer. If you like puzzle games, definitely give this a try. Even if you don't like match-3 games, still give it a try.
