| #1 favorite game of all time (I'm serious)
Graphics: 8 The art style is charming and sometimes great, showcasing scarce but amazing big pixel art shots and general good sprite work. Not a selling factor but still very good. Sound: 9 The use of motifs and experienced composition makes emotion happen when it matters most, and keeps your ears busy across gameplay with tracks unique enough to recall specific dungeons or moments when hearing them. Great soundtrack that well compliments. Gameplay: 8 Yes, some segments of the game can be a bit difficult (or even frustrating), but the randomized dungeon gameplay loop and moves of mainline Pokemon work surprisingly well together, not to mention the dungeons are very rouge lite heavy because they are essentially the dungeons from rouge (game that made rouge likes). Feels solid apart from select boss fights (you'll know the ones). Overall: 10 This game despite it's Pokemon plastered dungeon crawler outside view (and it's that numerous times) has one of the most weirdly amazing stories that is so good that blended with semi difficult gameplay and shocking plot points just makes that perfect combo of small different elements that make for an amazing experience. I can't praise what it did right enough. Definitely go full blind for the story btw you'll thank me later :) |
