GTA 3 changed gaming forever. It was the first real sandbox game and the best one up until that point. It was also the first 3D GTA game. I completed the game 4 times and 2 of those were 100% playthroughs. I first got the game when I was 11 and played the hell out of it. I have a lot of knowledge about the game. I still play it today from time to time. For this rewiew, I'm going to take off the nostalgia glasses and be real and honest.

The graphics have aged like milk which isn't surprising. For the first 3D GTA game in the early 00s the game looked fantastic. They aren't that bad that you can't enjoy the game. I usually don't care about the graphics but, you gotta be honest, this game is the most dated one out of the 3D era GTA games.

Overall sound is okay. I do have to mention that Claude (the main character) does not speak a single word through the whole game. In my opinion it really hurt the game. It made the overall experience less immersive. The random comments of pedestrians partly make up for it lol.

I actually really like it. Of course sometimes it's annoying but so is the gameplay of other 3D era GTA games, even HD era! I like all the islands, I think they are well made and simple enough to know exactly where you're at because the original game doesn't even have a map in game. Weapon selection is ok, nothing special. Vehicles are ok and the Banshee is just iconic. This is where the game falls flat because there are no motorbikes and planes. There is the Dodo but it's so hard to fly.

Overall I liked my time in Liberty City. I would recommend people to play this game. Even tho it's dated there's still some fun to be had.

I'd like to say that the main character really drags the game down. We didn't even know his name until it was mentioned in GTA SA. He is just an empty shell.
