Raiden Trad is a port of Seibu Kaihatsu's game, Raiden. Basically, Raiden Trad is a SHMUP (SHoot 'eM UP) where you play as the ME-02 Raiden jet-fighter and destroy untold numbers of enemies. Plain and simple.
Graphics: 7 I give the graphics a 7/10 because they're quite accurate to the arcade version. They're not anything special. Sound: 6 Sounds get a 6/10 just for the music. The theme from the first and fourth levels, "Gallantry", is quite heroic, and the rolling drum line for the stage 5/8 theme, "Rough and Tumble" is quite fitting. Gameplay: 4 However, the gameplay only gets a 4/10 because of two factors: 1- difficulty- it's too easy, or too hard. Never just right. 2- repetitiveness- it's overly repetitive, even for a SHMUP. Overall: 6 Play the FM Towns or PSX version (The Raiden Project). The game doesn't really stand out in any way except the music. It's pretty good. This game is the mid-runner of the 3 versions of Raiden Trad. The worst version is the SNES version. The best is the one for the FM Towns- it's arcade-perfect, and it has AWESOME music. Anyway, if you want to play an arcade-perfect version, go play The Raiden Project for the PSX or the aforementioned FM Towns version, if you can find it! |
