| The Orange Box is basically a bundled surprise in one box. I remember getting The Orange Box for my PS3 and playing i, and much like any bundled games, it was okay. They're all great games, with portal being my favorite. It's also a weird port though. Anyways, let's get to the ratings :)
Graphics: 7 The graphics are solid. You can see the difference between this version and the PC version. The graphics in Team Fortress 2 on this version looks like if the mercenaries got out of a swimming pool. As for half life, it looks a little bit low poly but at least it doesn't look like the original Xbox version. As for Portal... Nothing changed. Sure there's few small changes here and there but that's just it. Sound: 10 All of them have a good soundtrack, there's no denying that. Whether it's Hazardous Environment, Still Alive, or Rocket Jump Waltz, you got to admit Valve made a memorable soundtrack to those games. Gameplay: 9 Like any other bundled games they give you 3 games of your preference; story, puzzle, and multiplayer. Half Life and Portal are like it's PC versions, but TF2 is pretty empty, mainly because the official servers are offline after EA pulled the plug and many players are switching to PC. TF2 in this version doesn't have these things; pyro can't airblast, engineer can't pick up buildings, spy can't pick up ammo when cloaked, no hats, no new weapons, just few players playing on 6 maps. But hey, there are servers that hardcore Orange Box fans made so TF2 is not dead in this version. Overall: 8 Even though you can get those 3 games (including the episodes) on PC, The Orange Box is a good alternative. I recommend giving it a try if you want to play Half Life 2 with it's episodes to experience what it feels like in a dystopian world, Portal with its fun puzzles, and Team Fortress 2 with it's empty servers (unless you play the community servers that hardcore Orange Box fans made). |
