| Sonic Unleashed is a Platformer, Action-adventure, and Beat 'em up game released in 2008. Compared to other Sonic the Hedgehog games I find this one the BEST of them. Now to the rating.
Graphics: 10 Where do I begin this with. This game has some of the most beautiful graphics I've seen. Hedgehog Engine works very great (unlike the later games we WON'T talk about) which just blinded my eyes. And how can we not mention the CG cutscenes? They look cinematic like some movies for millions of dollars. The locations look great also, they're realistic and a little bit cartoonish. I have nothing to say about it anymore. It's just PERFECT. Sound: 10 The game is full of memorable soundtracks. Daytime stages have dynamic ones, and nighttime stages have jazz notes. Whenever you encounter an enemy wave in nighttime stages, the battle soundtrack that plays (no, it's not annoying since it plays always) is one of my favorite in all Sonic history. Gameplay: 9 So...where do I begin this with. People might say that Werehog stages are bad and that finding Sun and Moon medals is painful but I'd say NO to that. Daytime stages have fast boosting gameplay and a little bit of platforming. Nighttime stages have a lot of platforming and also beat 'em up segments (a lot of them). I find both of these gameplay types pretty fun to play. Now, finding medals wasn't painful to me. The reasons are: 1. Daytime stages are well, not straight lines but still there's easy to find. 2. Nighttime stages have a lot of them all around the map. Medals are also in hub worlds and Professor Pickle's lab so.. there you go. Now Eggmanland can be painful but since Eggman wanted to build it to end Sonic it starts to become obvious why it's so hard. Overall: 10 Such a nice game. People somewhat don't like the game that much because of you know what. But compared to other games this one just made me love it. Yes, there are glitches that make you rage and there are people that like Wii version more but still, this game is perfect. Phew, writing this review was a real challenge. I just hope people will understand how much I love this game. Anyways, hope this review helps you in any way. Bye for now. |

| Ah, Sonic Unleashed, that one game which got a lot of hate from press, mainly because of Werehog, or Sonic the Werehog if you will, but anyway, let's get right into the review.
Graphics: 9 Oh boy where do i begin? The graphics look so good that it will lag your console, unless it's PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, Sonic Unleashed has a wonderful art style which took inspiration from real places on Earth. Like Mykos in Greece, China, New York and so on, and it shows, it makes the game look alive and just look great overall. Oh and SEGA learned their mistake from Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06, making humans look cartoony, like from a Pixar movie (or $40 Unity Asset Pack), perfectly fitting with Sonic's world. Sound: 9 All i can say is, the soundtrack is great, both Day and Night songs are great, like Skyscraper Scrambler (Day), Savannah Citel (Day), Rooftop Run (Night), and i'm sure all of you remember Apotos (Day), it's just such a memorable song. Gameplay: 8 Well, honestly, even if i love Sonic Unleashed, opinion on the gameplay can be either bad or meh, for Day stages it's great, i love speeding and boosting through the levels like a speeding car destroying everything in it's path. Werehog's gameplay is okay, i guess, it's just boring and sometimes outright frustrating (looking at you, red wasps) combat. but Werehog has couple of tricks up his sleeve, like the "Unleashed" gauge, when it fills up, you can press "RB" button for a temporary damage, speed, defense and immunity to fire and other stuff, the gauge increases as you level up Werehog, same for health, damage and shields (block), same for Sonic, you can level up his speed and boost, but that doesn't mean the grind is good, it's boring. Overall: 9 Overall, Sonic Unleashed is a hidden gem in the Xbox 360 game library, gameplay is fun (for the most part), music is great and graphics are excellent |
