B-Boy is a music rhythm video game based off the breaking/hip-hop scene. Developed by Freestyle Game and Released by evolved games on the PS2 and PSP in 2006.

The graphics actually seem good for ps2 in 2006. The Char Models are well textured and modeled, The Visuals/Aesthetic Fits well with the theme of the game. Also some audience NPCs in the background of some maps are very low res and look like sprites. Other than that the game seems pretty appealing.

Sound: 7
The music syncs well with the breakin, but sometimes licensed tracks are speed up from their normal tempo. Possibly to match the same tempo as the breakers but its not that much of a flaw. What is a flaw is that sometimes the audio cuts out for a split second and it is really distracting. But the soundtrack is super solid. You have funk, hiphop, beats and progressive rock. Super Solid ST.

Gameplay: 9
The game has 3 modes, a Normal Arcade mode, a Career mode and an VS online mode. The arcade mode is just 1v1 battles with characters and maps you unlock from career mode. In career mode you build up your crew, upgrade your lab and learn new moves and unlock new sponsors. Online mode is the same as arcade mode but online. The roster is pretty solid for its time. It has real life breakers from around the world, Like K-Mel and Bravemonk. The control scheme is well-designed. Triangle is top rock, Circle is power moves, X is footwork and square is the freezes. Using the D-Pad you can do different variations of moves (similar to the THPS Games). I remember that pressing circle than up two times on the d-pad made you do sick 90s. There are variations to all the shape buttons which makes creativity explode. and sometimes you also have to hit r1 to the beat of the song, which is really stupid but you don't have to do it all the time thankfully.

Overall: 8
The game hasn't aged well in some parts but is still a blast to play and an excellent hidden gem. I def recommend to real life breakers and hip hop heads or if your just one to play rhythm games.

Online is closed for PS2 but still available locally for PSP.
