| God of War is based on ancient Greek mythology where the player is tasked with becoming immortal and eliminating the ancient Greek mythological god, Ares. God of War is the first title of the God of War franchise. Players will commonly pick up a sense of attachment to the protagonist as they make progress through the game which is loaded with gory combat while simultaneously providing the player with brain picking puzzles along the way. The cutscenes are amazing to watch, and the story keeps the player engaged. It isn't hard to see that God of War was one of the best PlayStation 2 exclusives that has ever come out. Still to this day, God of War fans and new players alike are supporting this franchise.
Graphics: 10 Some may argue this is the best looking PS2 game to have been released. The maps can be very large and fun to explore as well. Sound: 9 No audible latency was experienced the entire time playing this game. The soundtrack is reminiscent to ancient civilization music where you will feel like you are in the game almost. Gameplay: 8 The puzzles are a bit of a deterrent but the combat and story line cutscenes will make it all worthwhile. Using easy difficulty and cheats may be the way for you to enjoy this game however, if you prefer to have a more seamless experience. I honestly would say this game has replay value. After completion, I found myself wanting to explore the entire game and see everything the developers added. I mean, how many chances do you get to explore Olympus?! Overall: 9 If you enjoy gore and ancient folklore, this is the game for you! Very good game and I highly recommend picking yourself up a copy and giving it a try. Upon completion, the player will be rewarded with God Mode. I recommend try doing the game without cheats for the authentic experience intended by the developers for you. However, this game is very difficult and recommend finding a cheat engine like codebreaker or Action Replay for an easier experience if you find yourself not enjoying the game at all. |
