| Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is an update to the game Marvel vs. Capcom: Fate of Two Worlds, which, in turn, is a crossover fighting game developed by Capcom. It features Capcom's own characters and characters from American comic books by Marvel Comics. It is the fifth in the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise, the eighth game in the Vs series, the first to be exclusive to consoles, and the second in the Vs series to use three-dimensional graphics in a two-dimensional battle area.
Graphics: 9 The game is frenetic, colorful in the best cell-shaded style, and rendered in 3D despite the 2D perspective. It perfectly simulates the stylistic elements of "living comics," and fits very well with the stylization of the two character universes. Sound: 9 Like any good fighting game the soundtrack is electrifying and memorable, and many of the attack and power effects are somewhat reminiscent of what was seen in classic arcades. Gameplay: 9 The gameplay is as frantic as the design and sound. Even those without much experience in classic arcade-style fighting games should be able to pull off some interesting moves and combos with just a few minutes of practice. This gives the game a positive accessibility point: those who prefer a more technical approach will have good mechanics at their disposal to improve, and those who play more casually can also have fun. Overall: 9 Overall, Marvel vs Capcom 3 is a solid fighting game experience, and accessible to virtually all ages. It's worth having in your collection. |
