Blaster Master was one of my favorite games when I was young. Playing it again, I came to realize that there were certainly great aspects to this game, but there are a few killer flaws to the gameplay.
Graphics: 8 The game consists of two distinct parts: and "outside" and an "inside" part. Outside, the graphics were impressive. Truly worth a 10. The environments are well detailed and the objects (player, enemies, etc...) are well animated and creative. Inside, graphics are poor, there are graphical glitches, and objects are poorly conceived and rendered. Sound: 9 Sound is good for an NES title. The music is good enough to not become boring and sound effects do not sound cheesy. It's hard to praise the sound of ANY NES title, but this one is about as good as it can get for the old 8-bit system. Gameplay: 7 Again, outside is phenomenal. It is a side-scrolling platformer. Your character has the option of exploring in a vehicle or on foot, although most exploration is in the car. You gain abilities and a respectable assortment of weapons, and the gameplay is smooth and enjoyable. The inside portions of the game are poorly executed. The game becomes a shooter with an overhead perspective. Weapons are unimaginative and too easy to lose. Combat is not so much challenging as it is difficult. It just isn't nearly as much fun as the outside combat. You'll find yourself wanting to finish the dungeon just to get on with the better bits outside. Overall: 8 The graphics, sound and gameplay all shine in spite of a few rough spots. The game is thoroughly enjoyable. I still play this one no matter how many times I beat it. It may just be the memories of my youth that keep me coming back, but it still has enough charm to hold my attention. |

When I was a young kid I played this game, and never made it far before my mother sold my Nintendo game set but I always remember the name of the game I played. It was Blaster Master. When I reached the Ninth grade I found the game again and played it and since then I have been addicted to it ever since.
Graphics: 10 I thought the Graphics for every level was amazing especically for a Nintendo game. Once you see the Graphics on the game you will understand why I say this. This game was made in 1988 and it has graphics for a game in the early 1990s. The Graphics make the graphics on Sonic the Hedgehog look sad. Sound: 10 The music was great, the person who was behind the music really out did themselves because it makes the game additive. There are times I wish I could have the music on CD just to listen to it. Gameplay: 10 Only one word can describe this game. GREAT. The Game play is great. The bosses are challenging, I thought having the tank climb a wall and hang upside down was funny. It is also challenging too, there were times I got very mad at the game but hey that is what makes it fun. Overall: 10 What can I say, you will have to play the game to understand why I gave tens in all cats. Also you will understand why it is so great. I would recommend this game to any person who stills plays the Classics. |

This is truly one of the underestimated masterpieces. I didn't realize it at the time I first got it... but in time I grew to realize how much I loved it. And it's the only game I'm still tempted to play to this day. Graphics: 9 The imaginative worlds are totally done justice - the graphics are beyond anything I dared hope for the NES. Both where you venture in your vehicle and in the tunnels where you venture on foot takes my breath away. Sound: 10 I can get totally obsessed with this music. Especially the underwater stage's music - I feel it's so beautiful. You could listen to this music in your stereo! It's a shame I don't know the name of the person behind the music, because he or she is really talented. Gameplay: 10 Put simply - I cannot find one single bad thing to say about this game. It's enjoyable from start to finish (and I have yet to reach that). Every challenge is deeply satisfying to overcome, and every failure encourages you to work harder. Every level is imaginative and breathtaking. Not with one do you get the feeling you've seen this before. Everything falls into place like a seamless puzzle - nothing is out-of-place. Overall: 10 10 ...what more can I say? I feel I’ve expressed my point as well as I can. 'Blaster Master' is a true masterpiece – I still get an itch in my fingers to play it. Special thanks to my dad, who got it for me. Thanks, dad! In case that wasn't obvious - highly recommended. |

The plot: Your pet frog has escaped and mutated into a large, burrowing animal thanks to it drinking a toxic chemical. You chase after him with this vehicle you find in the pursuit. This is a change-of-pace combination of a platform game and a maze-type game. The platform part of it is excellent, but when you leave the vehicle and go ""inside"", the game is B-A-D. *Very* bad: Terrible graphics, terrible animation, and terrible game concept. Anyway, an interesting misfire to be honest: Half of a very good game, and half of a very bad game. |

This is one of the best games I have ever played. Ever since the day my brother bought it, I would play this game EVERY day. Then he sold his Nintendo one day and I never saw it again. 7 years later, a kid introduced me to this wonderful site, and the first game I looked for was Blaster Master. The gameplay was great! It's not one of those easy overnight games, because it's hard, but fun at the same time. I can never get tired of this game, and the cool thing is that there are 2 different types of play in it: when your in the car and when your the person. I would definetly recommened anyone to download this, and I can't wait to get my hands on the new game boy color version, and that's why I gave this game all 10's! |

Wow...This game is impressive. The graphics are good for nes. And gameplay and controls are perfect...But the Music! The Music Is One Of The Best Musics On the Nes!!! They are so melodic and perfect for the every stage. My favourite is lvl.3, computer citadel's music. The game is very huge and challening, and you can/must return to earlier stages, that is good. The replayability is good, because the stages are well done. There is lotsa kind of enemies on every stage, and big + for that there are areas that you don't have to explore. I think this game is kind of non-linear, because of that. You don't have to go straight forward, because you can explore the areas. There are two playing modes: with the car, like super mario, and walking with jason(The player) like..uh..like Gremlins 2. The bosses are also well done and challening, expecially the giant crab in stage 5. And by the way lvl.5 have Beautiful music! Ok, i hyped the music very much, but the music is true really good =P Ps.Don't mind my bad english, there may be bugs in my review.=) |
