I do not know why this game isn't as famous as Ninja Gaiden for the NES, since it is better in every way. This game packs a fun story with cool cinematic elements, tight controls, and makes for a great experience.

Though not the best I've seen on the NES, this game rocks some darn good graphics. The characters are fairly smoothly animated, the backgrounds look fairly nice, and I can tell what everything is supposed to be. The colors seem to be a bit washed out, even for the NES, but I think that sort of adds to the grainy style of the game.

Sound: 10
I can't really find any faults in the audio of the game. The background music is pretty good, and the sound effects sound like they are supposed to. I do like how the music sort of sounds like the score to an action movie, really putting us in the middle of one.

The controls are just about perfect. The hit detection is about right, and it's always evident what you are supposed to do.

The only complaint I have is that sometimes there are some cheap hits that accidentally get you killed. Sometimes a dude will knock you back and off an edge, and sometimes a ledge will collapse and you can't jump back up to save yourself.

Overall: 10
You really don't get much better than this on the NES. I really had a blast playing this through on my NES Advantage, and I believe that games like this one are extremely underrated and deserve some recognition.

I believe the world would benefit from having this re-released on some newer platforms, such as the Nintendo DS or Nintendo Virtual Console. This game is very fun, and really should be on the same fame level as any of the Ninja Gaiden games or Metal Gear games.

If you're listening Sammie, Sega, or whoever, please re-release or sequel this great game.
