| Now, this game has a very strong, nostalgic meaning for me. As a kid I was completely obsessed with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, especially the episodes, and I was hooked on this game from the start. I have played it several times and find it much more fun to play than the first game. Graphics: 8 Makes quite good use of the graphics. Splinter looks more like a boar than a rat in wide shots, though, and several boss sprites are a little too bright, but the graphics do justice enough. Sound: 9 All the themes we know and love are here. There's just something about this music that's so captivating - I don't know to this day what it is. Gameplay: 9 This game is great fun. Controlling the Turtles is wonderfully easy and each has their own strengths and weaknesses, because of their weapons. The Foot and co. tend to come in waves that grow tiring, but otherwise this game really is as addictive as games can be. The bosses are particularly tough to beat. Overall: 9 A great way to spend a rainy, chore-free day, whether you're a TMNT fan or not. It's just so easy to master and so addictive that you postpone trips to the bathroom until between levels. Could "feel" a little more TMNT, but a great job all the same. My version of the game is a foreign-cart version (I forgot what these are called), with more extra lives and without the 'Pizza Hut' advertisements (instead of the 'Pizza Hut' boards in level 2, it reads 'Turtle Crossing'). The Turtles were utterly unrecognisable on the cover, and when I put the cart into my NES and discovered it was this game, I was overjoyed. |

| I absolutely love this game. I first played it on the NES when I was about 4. I borrowed it once and just got hooked from then on. After borrowing it from the video store about a million times I eventually bought it. At the time I was a huge Ninja Turtles fan and still am, I never missed an episode when it was on TV. Not as much fun single player but when you play with a friend it becomes so much more fun. You basically take the role of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and have to fight your way through Shredders many minions and eventually take on the big bad guy himself. Not much of a story line but then when were beat 'em ups ever known for their plot? The graphics are excellent for a NES game and the gameplay is wonderful. Ths sound I absolutely love. Remixes of the famous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme music. There's just something about this game. The mix of wonderful graphics combined with music that never gets boring and being able to use Raphael, Michaelangelo, Donatello and Leonardo to kick ass makes for a wonderful time. Download it....NOW! If you like it I recommend getting TMNT4: Turtles in Time on the SNES although nothing beats playing these games on their actual systems, you just can't compare ROMs to the actual cart. |
